About the role#
The Coatings R&D Intern will work alongside a senior chemist to support the development of new chemistries and products. You will focus on creating ingredients that enhance the performance attributes of coatings. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate and design new chemistries for use as coating additives or resins.
- Formulate and test coatings to ensure they meet performance requirements for target applications.
- Conduct fundamental studies to understand structure-property relationships using analytical techniques.
- Document all studies and present your findings to the technology team and leadership.
What you'll need#
- Completed a BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Competence in conducting experiments in a chemical lab setup.
- Experience with basic analytical instruments.
- Ability to learn and execute tasks quickly.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.
- A problem-solving and analytical mindset.
- Prior experience or knowledge of coating technologies is preferred but not required.
Location & details#
- Location: Pearl River, New York.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2027 (10-12 weeks between May and August).
- Hours: 40 hours per week.
- Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour.
