About the role#
As a Flight Software Engineer Co-op, you will develop software for autonomous Unmanned Aerial Systems. You will work through the full engineering design cycle, from initial concept to final deployment. This role covers the entire technical stack, ranging from bare-metal firmware to Linux-hosted robotics and containerized micro-services. You will focus on the interaction between users, hardware, and software to ensure autonomous systems complete their missions.
What you'll do#
- Design and build embedded and flight software for unmanned aerial vehicles.
- Develop embedded software for Linux or RTOS applications.
- Create device drivers, protocols, and APIs for vehicle systems.
- Integrate new features and sensors into flight controller software.
- Integrate guidance and control algorithms with the flight software stack.
- Build test fixtures and automation for Software-In-The-Loop and Hardware-In-The-Loop testing.
- Participate in flight tests and analyze the results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
- Proficiency in C++.
- Knowledge of Embedded Linux operating systems.
- Experience with C, Python, and Rust is a plus.
- Familiarity with ARM Microcontrollers is helpful.
- Experience with third-party libraries and APIs.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication skills.
