About the role#
This internship is part of the 2027 Future Talent Program. You will join the Pharmaceutical Sciences and Device Development organization for a 12-week summer term. You will work alongside an experienced scientist on research projects focused on drug/device combination products, such as inhalers, nasal sprays, and injectable delivery systems.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including analytical, manufacturing, packaging, and clinical supplies.
- Participate in project team meetings to gain insight into the pharmaceutical drug development process.
- Develop and validate mechanical test methods, including fixture design.
- Work on combination product design and assembly process development.
- Conduct modeling and simulation activities.
- Apply human factors engineering principles.
- Create novel characterization methodologies for device constituents and final products.
- Document research findings and present results in oral and written formats.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate (sophomore, junior, or senior) or a graduate student (Masters or PhD) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Chemistry.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate study by June 2027.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software.
- Basic knowledge of engineering design, statistics, and material science.
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, JMP, MATLAB, Python, or Minitab.
- Familiarity with design verification, validation, and design controls.
- Understanding of risk assessment, root cause analysis, or design failure modes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work full-time for 12 weeks starting in June 2027.

- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
- Available locations: Rahway, New Jersey and West Point, Pennsylvania.
