About the role#
Murray Company is offering a Project Engineer Internship for Summer 2027. You will join our Operations group to gain hands-on experience in project management for mechanical projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and process piping. You will report to project managers and support our pre-construction, fabrication, and field installation teams. This role requires on-site work in San Leandro, California, with travel to project sites throughout Northern California.
What you'll do#
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating mechanical projects.
- Review project designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Manage documentation such as submittals, RFIs, change orders, and reports.
- Visit project sites to monitor progress and ensure work meets specifications.
- Help prepare cost estimates and budgets.
- Support quality control measures and safety protocol implementation.
- Communicate with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university program pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for 10-12 consecutive weeks.
- Initiative and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to lift 15 pounds, traverse uneven surfaces, and climb stairs on project sites.
- Visual acuity to interpret detailed construction drawings.
