About the role#
The Integrated Carbon Conversion Processes group is seeking a graduate intern to assist with the development of a digital twin for an experimental biological and thermocatalytic conversion platform. You will work alongside senior process engineers, modelers, and data scientists to create a virtual representation of key unit operations. This project focuses on enabling real-time monitoring, dynamic simulation, and predictive analytics for the conversion of biomass and waste into biofuels and bioproducts.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement process models for biomass conversion, upgrading, and separation units.
- Integrate sensor data and historical process information into the digital twin architecture.
- Build simulation tools and dashboards for visualization, control, and scenario analysis.
- Contribute to model validation using pilot-scale data and experimental feedback loops.
- Document system architecture, modeling workflows, and assumptions to ensure reproducibility.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a master's degree, or currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program.
- Relevant fields include Chemical Engineering, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Chemistry.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
- Proficiency in Python and/or C++ programming.
- Experience modeling chemical reactors.
- Exposure to artificial intelligence or machine learning methods.
