About the role#
The Cognitive and Generative-AI Engineering team develops and implements AI-driven solutions to scale AI adoption across the organization. This 12-week summer internship program runs from May 2027 through August 2027 and offers students the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects within the Enterprise Data and Information Management department.
What you'll do#
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis.
- Assist with AI Engineering tasks and specific project assignments.
- Support business strategy and initiatives within your assigned unit.
- Collaborate with staff across various levels to complete daily tasks.
- Process and update data in automated systems, including report generation.
- Provide operational support across functional areas while maintaining a focus on member service.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- A strong foundation in Computer Science or Data Science.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
- Understanding of Generative-AI concepts, Large Language Models (LLMs), and their practical applications.
- Familiarity with AI search techniques, Prompt Engineering, vector databases, LangGraph, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks.
- Knowledge of Data Engineering, APIs, and cloud development.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site position located in Vienna, Virginia.
- Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
