About the role#
This internship provides exposure to national politics and the workings of Congress. You will gain experience in a newsroom environment, contributing to stories that appear on The Hill website and in print. This is a full-time, paid position for the summer of 2026.
What you'll do#
- Write and report on national politics and Congress.
- Assist reporters with various assignments and projects.
- Attend events hosted by The Hill and help with related clerical duties.
- Travel to the Capitol and halls of Congress as needed for reporting.
- Manage your daily tasks with a focus on professional development.
What you'll need#
- Strong writing and reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.
- Familiarity with national politics and the legislative process.
- A self-motivated approach to seeking out assignments and projects.
- Academic background in fields such as Communications, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, or Media Studies.
Location & details#
- This role is located in Washington, DC.
- The internship is on-site.
- The term runs from May 2026 through August 2026.
- Compensation is $17.95 per hour.
- The company covers in-town travel expenses for work assignments, but interns are responsible for their own lodging and personal travel.
