About the role#
Oath Animal Hospital offers a hands-on externship program for students currently enrolled in an accredited Veterinary Technician program. This role provides practical experience in a clinical setting to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work directly with our veterinarians and support staff to gain exposure to both routine and emergency veterinary care.
What you'll do#
- Assist with patient examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Administer medications and vaccinations.
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures.
- Conduct laboratory tests including bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Take radiographs.
- Care for hospitalized animals and educate pet owners on preventive care.
- Help maintain a clean and organized work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Veterinary Technician program.
- A strong interest in animal care and a willingness to learn.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of animal handling and medical terminology is helpful.
- Enthusiasm for participating in patient care.
