About the role#
Okanagan College is hiring a Library & Learning Commons Student Assistant to support the daily operations of our library spaces. You will work under direct supervision to ensure these areas remain functional and accessible for the campus community. This is a paid, non-regular, on-call student position.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic maintenance of the library collection, including re-shelving materials and sorting them by call number.
- Assist students with navigating college online services, learning management systems, and student portals.
- Provide basic printing support, such as replacing paper and toner.
- Maintain cleanliness in student workstations and public desk areas.
- Issue student ID cards following established procedures.
- Count and record the number of people using the library and learning commons spaces.
- Monitor equipment and report any technical issues to staff.
- Handle end-of-shift duties, including clearing spaces and powering down monitors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Okanagan College.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Excellent time management, writing, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in a library, IT, or customer service role is an asset.
- Priority is given to students who demonstrate financial need.
