About the role#
The Terminal Operator Intern supports daily terminal operations while learning industry standards, safety practices, and equipment procedures. You will work under close supervision, following established processes to assist experienced operators. This role provides hands-on experience in product handling, facility operations, and terminal systems as you build foundational knowledge.
What you'll do#
- Support product measurement by assisting with gauging petroleum products transferred to and from tanks, trucks, rail cars, pipelines, and marine vessels.
- Learn and assist with valve lineups, switches, and tank changes for the safe movement of petroleum products.
- Follow safety protocols to help prevent spills, contamination, and product loss.
- Input basic operational data into terminal automation systems.
- Participate in routine inspections, including tank checks, equipment observations, and facility walkdowns.
- Assist with general facility upkeep, including maintaining location appearance and supporting minor equipment repairs.
- Support customer and driver interactions and assist with rack operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Power Plant Operator, Chemical Plant Operator, or related program.
- A strong interest in terminal operations and the energy industry.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying environmental conditions.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred.
- Ability to perform medium work, including exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
