    About the role#

    This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Garner, Iowa. You will work on-site to assist engineers with various mechanical functions, including design, production, and testing. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting projects through their lifecycle, from initial layout to the assembly floor.

    What you'll do#

    • Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software.
    • Select parts and components that balance weight, cost, and reliability.
    • Follow projects on the assembly floor during prototype, pilot, or production builds.
    • Run engineering calculations for weight distribution, stress analysis, and performance.
    • Create and manage Engineering Change Notices within the Product Lifecycle Management system.
    • Design, model, and test mechanical systems that integrate with vehicles.
    • Consult with internal departments, suppliers, and customers to solve technical problems.
    • Update bills of materials in the Product Data Management system.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Previous internship or work-related experience.
    • Demonstrated interest or experience in mechanical design.
    • Experience with CAD systems like CATIA or Pro-E is a plus.
