    About the role#

    Packaging Corporation of America is hiring an Environmental Co-op or Intern to support environmental compliance and operations. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position. You will work with corporate and site staff to maintain regulatory standards across mill and box plant locations. The role involves a 75% travel expectation accompanied by corporate environmental staff.

    What you'll do#

    • Travel to mill and box plant locations to assist with environmental surveys and audits.
    • Collect, analyze, and manage environmental samples, including wastewater, stormwater, and other process areas.
    • Maintain laboratory equipment and update or create standard operating procedures.
    • Improve environmental records and documentation systems.
    • Work on projects related to wastewater treatment, landfill operations, and residuals management.
    • Assist staff in ensuring operations remain safe and environmentally compliant.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering degree program or a related field.
    • Completion of at least your freshman year of college.
    • A minimum grade average of 3.0/4.0.
    • A valid driver license.
    • Status as a permanent U.S. resident.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Gladstone, Virginia.
    • Work modality: On-site with 75% travel.
    • Term: Rolling.
    • Compensation: $25-$30 per hour based on year in school, plus paid holidays and eligibility for medical, dental, vision, and 401k plans.
