About the role#
Peak Energy is looking for a Manufacturing Equipment Engineering Intern to help develop, deploy, and optimize manufacturing equipment. You will work on-site in Burlingame, California, to support our current operations and future factory expansions. This role involves direct collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready manufacturing lines. You will own specific projects from concept through to deployment on the production floor.
What you'll do#
- Support the design, development, installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment.
- Manage projects end-to-end, including fixture design, tooling improvements, equipment modifications, or process documentation, with guidance from senior engineers.
- Work with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot equipment and production issues, identify root causes, and implement improvements.
- Support the transition of products and processes from low-volume prototype builds to full-scale manufacturing.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering to refine and deploy scalable manufacturing processes.
- Participate in hands-on testing, validation, and iteration of equipment, fixtures, and tooling.
- Collect and analyze production data to identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, including materials, GD&T, drafting standards, and engineering calculations.
- Experience with mechanical CAD tools such as 3DEXPERIENCE, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX.
- Hands-on experience building, testing, troubleshooting, or modifying mechanical systems through coursework, projects, or previous internships.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Burlingame, CA for a 3, 6, or 9 month term.
