About the role#
The Materials and NDE team develops, characterizes, and inspects the materials used to build the Terran R vehicle. You will work at the intersection of innovation and execution to support the production of additive hardware.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and optimize materials for additive manufacturing systems.
- Conduct hands-on materials characterization projects to improve current methods.
- Perform characterization techniques including SEM/EDS, thermal analysis, and chemical analysis.
- Quantify materials and NDE properties of new additive manufacturing technologies.
- Support the production of additive hardware and assess whether materials or NDE work requires process changes.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with materials characterization, such as metallography, electron microscopy, and mechanical testing.
- Demonstrated technical understanding and problem-solving capability.
- Exposure to the fundamentals of Materials Science or Non-Destructive Evaluation.
