About the role#
As a Tooling Engineer Intern, you will join the Tooling and Factory Automation team to support the manufacturing and integration of the Terran R vehicle and the AeonR engine. You will own projects from start to finish, including concepting, design, analysis, and manufacturing. You will work across multiple teams to define requirements, set timelines, and secure buyoff on design decisions.
What you'll do#
- Develop tooling for manufacturing and integration teams.
- Address a wide range of technical challenges, such as material handling, assembly fixtures, off-loaders, rotisseries, test fixtures, structural weldments, environmental chambers, and custom machines.
- Collaborate with internal partners to identify root problems and deliver hardware that improves production speed and scalability.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong fundamentals in statics and stress analysis.
- Experience using CAD software, with a preference for NX, for structural applications.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with extracurricular engineering projects or FEA tools like ANSYS is a plus.

- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Long Beach, California.
