About the role#
The PSS Electrical Engineering Assistant supports power system projects through design, technical documentation, and project coordination. You will work with protection and control, SCADA, and distribution automation technologies to help ensure reliable energy delivery. This position is a full-time, 8-month co-op term.
What you'll do#
- Assist lead engineers in defining technical project scopes and requirements.
- Develop and execute P&C and SCADA design activities.
- Prepare AC and DC schematic drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Create technical specifications for equipment and services to support procurement.
- Review shop drawings for technical conformity.
- Write technical reports and proposals.
- Manage project coordination and scheduling tasks.
- Attend meetings, record minutes, and track action items.
- Facilitate workshops to develop and document business processes.
- Assist with installation, factory acceptance testing, on-site commissioning, and startup at job sites.
- Work with communication devices and Distribution Automation control products.
- Handle administrative tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a 3rd or 4th year Electrical Engineering student.
- Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with relay programming, communication protocols, and protection logic concepts.
- Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and a self-starter mindset.
- Aptitude for learning company-specific software quickly.

- Location: Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 to August 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $22.70 - $36.40 per hour, based on year of study, academic program, and prior co-op experience.
