    About the role#

    As a Substation Engineer Intern in the Grid business unit, you will join a project team to assist senior engineers with project execution. This role focuses on transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage system projects. You will gain experience by applying your academic background to real-world engineering challenges.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
    • Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and associated data.
    • Prepare specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and installation services.
    • Use automation and agentic AI tools to solve engineering problems, improve workflows, and reduce rework.
    • Collaborate with project teams to deliver cost-effective designs.

    What you'll need#

    • Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
    • A minimum 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred.
    • Knowledge of design techniques, technical plans, blueprints, and models.
    • Experience using agentic AI.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Status: Full-time, on-site, paid internship.
    • Note: This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship.
