About the role#
As a Structural Engineer Intern, you will join a project team to assist with the design of new electrical substations and upgrades to existing systems. You will work under the direction of experienced engineers to support the execution of project tasks. This role is based in Elkridge, Maryland, and is scheduled for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Review structural design drawings and vendor documentation.
- Perform structural analysis and design for steel structures, connections, concrete members, platforms, and foundations.
- Solve engineering problems using data and modern tools, including automation and artificial intelligence, to improve workflows and design efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering.
- A strong academic background in structural analysis, structural steel design, reinforced concrete design, and foundation design.
- Strong PC skills and effective verbal and written communication.
- Willingness to use tools like Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel for automation and scripting is a plus.
