About the role#
We are looking for an IT Intern to support the tools and systems managed by our IT Operations team. This role offers hands-on experience in a defense technology environment. You will apply your academic knowledge to real-world systems and infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Support hardware, software, and network issues for desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and mobile devices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical problems.
- Perform routine system maintenance including software updates, security patches, and backups.
- Document and track support tickets using a helpdesk management system.
- Collaborate with senior IT staff on complex projects, migrations, and system upgrades.
- Ensure adherence to security best practices, including data protection and access control.
- Keep up to date with emerging IT trends and technologies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues across common devices.
- Proficiency in at least one operating system, such as Windows, macOS, or Linux.
- Strong communication skills and a customer experience mindset.
- Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Familiarity with helpdesk ticketing systems, endpoint management tools, and identity services like Active Directory or Okta.
- Understanding of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
- Exposure to scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- U.S. Person status, which includes U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, or protected asylees and refugees.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Austin, Texas.
- The term runs from May through August 2027.
- The role requires 40 hours per week in the office.
- This position is paid.
