About the role#
Schnabel Engineering is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering intern for Summer 2027. This position runs from May through August. You will work under the supervision of senior engineering personnel to gain practical experience and apply professional principles to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform geotechnical field work, including observing subsurface exploration and conducting infiltration testing.
- Use GPS equipment to layout borings.
- Conduct construction observation and materials testing at various sites.
- Perform laboratory testing.
- Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS software.
- Support engineers in the preparation of geotechnical proposals and reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor program. We will consider students in other relevant engineering or science programs.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow direction.
- Willingness to perform a mix of office and field tasks, including working outdoors.
- Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
- A valid U.S. driver license.
- Ability to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening.
- Preference is given to junior, senior, and graduate students, as well as those with a Master degree in Civil Engineering or prior related work experience.
