About the role#
Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is hiring a Plumbing Intern to work with our team in Dallas. This is a full-time, paid internship that runs on a rolling basis. You will gain experience in plumbing systems design while working on projects across sectors like healthcare, education, sports, and entertainment.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with the design of plumbing systems for various facility types.
- Prepare technical documentation, diagrams, and calculations using Revit.
- Participate in design meetings, internal project reviews, and site visits.
- Conduct research to support engineering decisions and ensure code compliance.
- Collaborate with team members across different disciplines.
- Learn industry codes and standards including IPC, UPC, NFPA, and ASPE.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in building systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, or other CAD tools.
- Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to communicate clearly through writing and speech.
- Professionalism and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Understanding of theories and methodologies relevant to the discipline.

- Location: Dallas, Texas, USA.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid position. A housing allowance is provided for interns who do not reside near the office location.
