About the role#
The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking interns to join our field operations in Maine. This full-time internship provides hands-on experience in arboriculture and residential tree care. You will work alongside experienced professionals to learn the fundamentals of tree maintenance, plant health, and business operations.
What you'll do#
- Work in the field with arborists, climbers, and plant health care technicians.
- Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, and bracing.
- Assist with tree and landscape installation.
- Operate equipment such as chainsaws and chippers safely.
- Manage plant health through soil care, deep root fertilization, and pest management.
- Learn business fundamentals, including sales, client service, and leadership.
- Gain exposure to the daily operations of a residential tree care office.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry, or a related field.
- A valid driver's license (a commercial driver's license is a plus).
- A genuine interest in proper plant care and the outdoors.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
