About the role#
This Packaging Engineering Co-op is a full-time, on-site position based in Rochester, New York. You will work within cross-functional teams to develop new products and manufacturing processes. This role is designed as a pipeline for future leadership talent, and you will work closely with a mentor on specific engineering assignments. Please note that this position requires geographic mobility and flexibility for both this assignment and potential future employment.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with project teams and external suppliers to develop packaging concepts.
- Create detailed component drawings and engineering change requests.
- Conduct technical feasibility and cost assessments.
- Help create and implement design guides, test standards, and sustainability guidelines.
- Assist in selecting packaging equipment and obtaining supplier quotes.
- Perform process qualifications for new equipment to medical device standards.
- Coordinate industrial ship tests and document results in technical reports.
- Present design concepts and test results at technical reviews.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Packaging or Mechanical Engineering, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
- Ability to create basic packaging component drawings, preferably using Solid Works.
- Knowledge of transportation test methods like ISTA or ASTM.
- Experience with data analysis, statistics, and MS Office tools.
- Familiarity with the CAPE PACK program is a plus.
- Proven leadership experience through campus, community, or professional organizations.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence.
- Willingness to travel domestically approximately 10% of the time.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
