About the role#
The Thin Films development team in San Jose is looking for a Process Engineer intern for the summer of 2027. This role focuses on research and development within a laboratory environment. You will work on projects that contribute to business objectives while building your technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Design and conduct process experiments (DOE) to optimize performance.
- Analyze tool signal data and metrology results.
- Perform supervised work on plasma diagnostics and integrate diagnostic signals with tool data.
- Build and validate reduced order models (ROMs) of chamber hardware using tool signal data.
- Run simulations for EM fields and plasmas using commercial software.
- Conduct lab work including sample preparation and data collection.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Rising Junior, Senior, or Graduate level (M.S. or Ph.D.) standing.
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical methods, and CAD software.
- Familiarity with computational plasma or fluids simulation tools.
- Coding skills and experience applying machine learning or AI techniques.
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
- Prior experience with thin films or cleanroom environments is a plus.

- This is a full-time, on-site internship located in San Jose, California.
- The program runs from May 17, 2027, through August 20, 2027.
