    About the role#

    The College of Engineering and Computer Science at Sac State is hiring Instructional Student Assistants for the Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) program. PAL facilitators support students in gateway engineering and computer science courses through cooperative learning. This is a part-time, temporary position that pays $16.90 per hour for 8 hours of work per week.

    What you'll do#

    • Facilitate PAL sessions for students.
    • Attend lectures for the main course you support.
    • Hold office hours to provide extra help.
    • Assist in supervising laboratory periods, workshops, or production courses.
    • Clarify course material and content for students.
    • Prepare course materials and aids.
    • Participate in the 2-unit ENGR 197 course, which covers pedagogy and group learning.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be a Sac State undergraduate student enrolled in at least six semester units.
    • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
    • You must have earned a grade of B+ or higher in the specific course you are applying to facilitate.
    • A recommendation from a STEM faculty member.
    • Majors accepted include Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
    • You must be in good academic standing.

    Location & details#

    • This position is located in Sacramento, California.
    • Work is performed on-site in an office environment.
    • The schedule is flexible between Monday and Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, as determined by your supervisor.
    • This is a non-benefited, part-time role with rolling hiring.
