About the role#
Professor Zhihao Zhang is hiring undergraduate and graduate students to assist with research projects. You will work on tasks related to large language models, human decision-making, and quantitative modeling of choice behavior.
What you'll do#
- Develop and work on projects involving large language models.
- Perform quantitative modeling of choice behavior.
- Apply statistical methods to research data.
- Communicate your findings to the team.
- Collaborate with other research assistants.
What you'll need#
- A strong foundation in statistics and probability, including probabilistic reasoning and geometry.
- Proficiency in Python, including experience with pandas and Git.
- Curiosity about large language models, human behavior, and decision-making.
- Ability to think carefully about conceptual distinctions and empirical results.
- Strong work ethic and communication skills.
- Experience with open-source LLMs or numerical optimization is a plus.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- The role is on-site and requires 10 hours per week.
- This is a paid position open only to current University of Virginia students.
- Hourly pay is based on your level of education, starting at $16.00 for undergraduates, $22.00 for master's students, and $25.00 for Ph.D. students.
- The position is open to students from various disciplines, including computer science, data science, business, economics, statistics, mathematics, physics, and psychology.
