About the role#
This position involves performing entry-level cooking and routine kitchen tasks under direct supervision. You will work as part of a team to support catering and event food services on the University of Wyoming campus.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and cook various foods including meat, fish, vegetables, soups, and cereals according to established recipes.
- Create salads, dressings, and desserts while managing the storage of leftover food.
- Monitor supply levels and notify supervisors when food or materials are needed.
- Receive and check in food and supply deliveries.
- Clean kitchen areas, utensils, refrigerators, and service equipment to meet sanitation and safety standards.
- Attend professional development trainings and participate in goal-setting activities.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and sanitation procedures for large-scale production.
- Familiarity with state and local health codes for kitchen operations.
- Ability to maintain culinary facilities and equipment.
- Skill in determining ingredient quantities based on specific orders.
- Ability to follow instructions, use common kitchen tools, and perform basic math.
