About the role#
The Help Desk Student Technician provides first-line technical support to students, faculty, and staff at the University of Wyoming. This role offers hands-on experience in IT support, troubleshooting, and customer service while helping maintain the university's technology services. This is a paid, part-time position with on-the-job training provided.
What you'll do#
- Respond to support requests via phone, email, or in-person to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Diagnose and resolve common technical problems including software malfunctions, connectivity issues, and peripheral setup.
- Log, track, and update support tickets in the university IT service management system.
- Assist users with understanding university software, applications, and IT resources.
- Perform routine IT tasks like software installations and updates.
- Work with other IT staff to ensure effective communication and support across campus.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a relevant major such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity.
- Experience in IT help desk or customer service roles.
- Familiarity with university systems or enterprise software like email, file sharing, and learning management systems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
