About the role#
The Media Assignment Coordinator supports the daily editorial operations of Student Media. You will organize assignments, monitor production workflows, and help ensure content meets quality standards. This role acts as a bridge between print, digital, and broadcast teams to promote collaboration across platforms.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate assignments for writers, photographers, videographers, and multimedia contributors.
- Track deadlines, assignment progress, and overall production flow.
- Facilitate communication between different media teams and organize editorial planning sessions.
- Assist with breaking news coverage and special events.
- Mentor and onboard student contributors.
- Ensure content meets editorial and production standards.
- Attend weekly meetings with your supervisor and student staff.
- Serve as a point of contact for department leadership when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a University of Wyoming student with at least a 2.5 GPA.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management abilities.
- A basic understanding of news production workflows and journalistic ethics.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by coverage schedules.
- Availability to start on August 24, 2026.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time position based on-site in Laramie, Wyoming.
- You are required to work at least 20 hours per week, with at least 15 of those hours occurring between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- This role is open to students across various majors, including Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Health, Psychology, and Graphic Design.
