About the role#
The Social Media Coordinator manages the online presence for University of Wyoming Student Media. You will develop and execute content strategies to promote products including the Branding Iron, WyoWire, Frontiers, and the Owen Wister Review. This role focuses on coordinating content across platforms, building audience engagement, and supporting the promotion of print, broadcast, and digital media.
What you'll do#
- Manage Student Media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Create, schedule, and publish content to promote Student Media products and events.
- Coordinate with editors to highlight news, sports, features, and multimedia.
- Monitor engagement, analyze performance, and recommend growth strategies.
- Attend editorial meetings and assist with promotional campaigns and live event coverage.
- Maintain assigned office hours and perform other duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a University of Wyoming student.
- Experience with major social media platforms and digital content creation.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively in a newsroom.
- Familiarity with social media analytics and graphic or video editing software is preferred.
- Working knowledge of AP Style or a willingness to learn.
- Attention to detail and the ability to identify errors.
- Prior experience in journalism, editing, or student media is helpful.
- Availability for publication deadlines on Sundays and Wednesday nights.
- Availability on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for training.
