About the role#
Lake Forest Animal Hospital in Forest, Virginia, is seeking a veterinary extern to join our team. We are a small animal practice offering general practice, emergency, surgery, and dental services. Our team includes experienced veterinarians and support staff who work together to provide care for the local community. This is a paid, full-time, on-site externship with a rolling start date.
What you'll do#
- Assist our veterinarians with routine examinations.
- Participate in basic soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries.
- Gain hands-on experience with dental procedures in our dedicated dental suite.
- Engage in client education to support pet health.
- Support the veterinary team across a variety of daily clinical tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA accredited Veterinary School pursuing a VMD or DVM degree.
- A strong interest in gaining experience in veterinary medicine.
- A desire to learn from experienced veterinarians in a collaborative environment.
- A commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

- Compensation: This position is paid, and we provide a stipend to help offset housing and travel costs.
