    About the role#

    The Power and Energy team is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineering intern for the Summer 2027 program. This 12-week internship offers exposure to real projects while working alongside senior staff. You will assist with electrical studies and system development for utility, industrial, and commercial clients, including work on conventional and renewable generation, substations, and transmission systems.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist in performing electrical studies and developing SCADA systems.
    • Support protective relaying tasks including short circuit analysis and relay settings.
    • Support power system planning studies such as power flow and voltage stability.
    • Design and configure networking and communications for SCADA and protection systems.
    • Develop logic and control schemes for power system equipment.
    • Prepare data acquisition systems and HMI screens.
    • Contribute to infrastructure design studies like substation grounding and power quality analysis.

    What you'll need#

    • Active enrollment in an accredited Electrical Engineering or related undergraduate, master's, or PhD program.
    • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
    • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, and spreadsheets.
    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • Ability to travel on occasion and work in a project-oriented environment.

    • Locations: Phoenix, Arizona or San Diego, California.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (starting May 17, 2027).
    • Status: Paid, full-time internship.
