About the role#
The Power and Energy team is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027. This 12-week program begins on May 17th, 2027, and provides hands-on experience working alongside senior staff on real projects. You will work from our office in Fort Worth, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
- Learn the basic principles of electrical engineering under the guidance of experienced mentors.
- Participate in substation design, including physical, electrical, relaying, and grounding components.
- Support transmission and distribution projects.
- Gain experience in system relaying and protection, including station and transmission relaying and distribution coordination studies.
- Assist with collecting and maintaining project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Exercise responsible decision-making and follow all company policies and the Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate, masters, or PhD program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A demonstrated interest in electrical engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Competent communication skills to interact with both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A proven record of upholding workplace safety standards.
- Completion of junior-level power system courses is preferred.
- Familiarity with engineering or drafting software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Mathcad is beneficial.
- Students who have passed or are scheduled to take the FE/EIT exam are strongly considered.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
