About the role#
As a VFX Intern, you will join our team to bring the visuals of Call of Duty to life. You will contribute to real-time effects that heighten gameplay, ranging from explosive battlefield moments to immersive environmental details. This role offers hands-on experience with AAA production pipelines and provides a deep understanding of how visual effects shape player immersion.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with experienced artists and engineers to design dynamic, cinematic, and optimized visual effects.
- Design visual effects using industry tools and in-game FX systems.
- Script multi-state FX objects.
- Balance artistry with performance requirements across next-gen platforms.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a certificate, associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program, graduating between May 2027 and June 2028.
- Available for a 12-week internship starting in mid-May or mid-June 2027.
- Currently residing in the US or open to relocating yourself.
- Experience creating real-time VFX simulations using Maya, 3ds Max, or in-game FX editors.
- Familiarity with Unreal, Unity, or proprietary game engines.
- Strong understanding of particle systems, shaders, dynamics, and 3D fundamentals.
- A portfolio or reel showcasing real-time, photoreal visual effects.
- Ability to communicate problems, solutions, and priorities effectively.
- Experience with Houdini or Photoshop is a plus.
- A passion for significantly impacting game development.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
- Hosting locations include Playa Vista, California and Carlsbad, California.
- The internship term is Summer 2027.
