About the role#
This Nurse Extern II role is for students graduating in December 2026. You will work on the Neuro Medical unit at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center. This position requires 8 hours of work per week until graduation. The role is designed to help you transition into a nursing position with the same team after you graduate.
What you'll do#
- Complete activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, and track blood glucose levels under the observation of a Registered Nurse.
- Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to establish patient care plans based on health needs and preferences.
- Evaluate patient responses to interventions and communicate observations to the nursing team.
- Administer medication as delegated by the Registered Nurse after demonstrating clinical judgment and skill proficiency.
- Manage patient loads while incorporating time management skills into your daily routine.
- Perform patient positioning and transport duties, including lifting and transferring patients using proper technique.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program, specifically in your final year.
- Successful completion of a Medical Surgical course that covers pharmacological concepts.
- Ability to adapt to interruptions and changing priorities.
- Capability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 lbs and performing patient transfers.

- Pay Range: $21.85 - $32.80 per hour.
