About the role#
Food-Fueled is a research journal at American University focused on food-related topics. The journal publishes work ranging from policy and law to food science and personal narratives. This is a part-time student position requiring 5 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Analyze journal submissions on a rolling basis for relevance, study design, ethics, and methodology.
- Coordinate the peer review process and perform final edits for grammar, syntax, citations, and clarity.
- Maintain the journal WordPress site to ensure it remains accessible and easy to navigate.
- Communicate with faculty advisors and undergraduate editors regarding research, graphics, and formatting guidelines.
What you'll need#
- You must be an enrolled student at American University.
- Ability to evaluate academic submissions for study design, ethics, and methodology.
- Experience with WordPress site maintenance.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with editors and faculty.
- Academic background in fields such as Journalism, Communications, English, Public Health, Agriculture, or Media Studies is preferred.

- This role is located on-site at the American University campus in Washington, DC.
- The position is paid at a rate of $18.50 per hour.
- This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
