About the role#
The Office of Merit Awards is hiring a student assistant to support our work in preparing undergraduate and graduate students for nationally competitive scholarships. This part-time position offers 10 hours of work per week and is restricted to students with a Federal Work Study award. We prefer candidates with sophomore standing or above who have an interest in marketing or writing.
What you'll do#
- Create marketing communications and social media posts to share scholarship opportunities and success stories.
- Assist with event planning for office initiatives.
- Perform administrative work and general office duties.
- Manage projects as assigned by the team.
What you'll need#
- You must be an enrolled American University student.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, and Outlook.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently on designated assignments.
Location & details#
- This role is located on the American University main campus in Washington, DC.
- The work modality is on-site.
- Pay is between $18.40 and $19.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
- This is a part-time, non-exempt position with rolling terms.
