    About the role#

    The Office of Merit Awards is hiring a student assistant to support our work in preparing undergraduate and graduate students for nationally competitive scholarships. This part-time position offers 10 hours of work per week and is restricted to students with a Federal Work Study award. We prefer candidates with sophomore standing or above who have an interest in marketing or writing.

    What you'll do#

    • Create marketing communications and social media posts to share scholarship opportunities and success stories.
    • Assist with event planning for office initiatives.
    • Perform administrative work and general office duties.
    • Manage projects as assigned by the team.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be an enrolled American University student.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, and Outlook.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and a professional demeanor.
    • Ability to work independently on designated assignments.

    Location & details#

    • This role is located on the American University main campus in Washington, DC.
    • The work modality is on-site.
    • Pay is between $18.40 and $19.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
    • This is a part-time, non-exempt position with rolling terms.
