About the role#
This is a part-time Research and Teaching Assistant position at the Kogod School of Business. The role supports a professor who focuses on marketing, social change, and the intersection of race and the marketplace. You will assist with teaching activities and research projects while gaining experience in academic processes. This position is open only to currently enrolled American University students.
What you'll do#
- Create and format diagrams, charts, graphs, and PowerPoint slides for class presentations and notes.
- Review, summarize, and integrate key points from research articles.
- Find practical examples of marketing activities and articles for class use.
- Conduct project-specific outreach to external partners.
- Maintain and improve the professor’s social media and networking presence.
- Provide administrative support such as data entry, mass mailings, and preparing meeting notes.
What you'll need#
- Excellent reading comprehension, writing, and communication skills.
- Strong organization and the ability to catch small errors to maintain consistency in materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience using online library databases and academic research resources.
- Ability to acquire, manage, and synthesize information on business and social research topics.
- Current enrollment as an American University student.
- Background or interest in marketing, sociology, or business administration.

- Location: Washington, DC.
- Work Modality: Remote and on-site options available.
- Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week.
- Compensation: $18.40 to $20.00 per hour.
- Term: Rolling.
