About the role#
This summer internship provides support to the Geographic Information Systems, land surveying, and civil engineering staff at the Basin Electric Power Cooperative headquarters in Bismarck. You will work under the direction of the Supervisor, Geomatics to complete skilled tasks related to engineering services. This is a full-time, paid position scheduled for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist department staff with assigned projects, tasks, and data entry.
- Conduct research, analysis, and field support under supervision.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and records.
- Follow all safety, security, and procedural guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Full-time enrollment in a two-year GIS, Land Surveying, or Engineering Technology program with at least two semesters completed, or a recent graduate within the past 12 months.
- Alternatively, full-time enrollment in a four-year GIS, Land Surveying, or Engineering Technology program with at least two years completed, or a recent graduate within the past 12 months.
- A valid driver's license.
- A copy of your transcript must be provided at the time of application.
- Previous internship or relevant work experience is preferred.
- Additional certifications or coursework in your field of study is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Bismarck, North Dakota.
- Term: Summer 2027 (approximately May 17, 2027, through August 20, 2027).
- Schedule: 40 hours per week.
- This position may be identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection related role, requiring strict adherence to all company policies and procedures regarding access to Bulk Electric System assets.
