About the role#
The Mayborn Museum is looking for student workers to join the Spark Team during the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 breaks. This is an active, on-your-feet role where you will engage directly with museum visitors. You will help create a welcoming environment, facilitate hands-on learning, and ensure our exhibits remain in great shape for the public.
What you'll do#
- Staff high-traffic areas such as Play Waco and the Traveling Exhibit.
- Facilitate educational activities and hands-on experiences for visitors of all ages.
- Re-set props and maintain cleanliness in museum playrooms.
- Monitor exhibit functionality and report any issues to the facilities and exhibits team.
- Answer visitor questions regarding ticket prices and upcoming museum events.
- Greet guests and provide information about museum exhibits.
What you'll need#
- A genuine interest in interacting with children and adults from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to complete written tasks and checklists accurately.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Strong sense of professionalism and commitment to punctuality.
- Ability to work at least 5 hours per week.

- This role is located on-site in Waco, Texas.
- The position is paid and open to students across various majors including Communications, Psychology, Sociology, History, Art, Media Studies, and Business Administration.
- Employment is scheduled for the Thanksgiving and Winter break periods.
