About the role#
This internship supports the ITS Information Security Services team at Baylor University. You will act as a Tier 1 SOC analyst, serving as the first point of contact for security events and alerts. This is a paid, on-site role based in Waco, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Monitor security events from SIEM alerts and other security tools.
- Conduct Level 1 triage to determine if an incident is a true or false positive.
- Review alerts escalated by end users.
- Perform limited incident response for low-complexity issues.
- Manage your assigned ticket queue.
- Assist with various security projects and network intrusion analysis.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program such as Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, or Data Science.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative on assigned projects.
- Commitment to following University policies and procedures.
- Reliability regarding attendance and punctuality.
