About the role#
This position supports the Mayborn Museum Makerspace, known as the Design Den. You will help create an engaging environment for visitors by facilitating hands-on activities, managing supplies, and assisting with various museum events throughout the summer of 2026.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate activities in the Design Den, including testing and prototyping new projects.
- Provide customer service to museum visitors using specific making and tinkering strategies.
- Support the Museum Engagement Spark Team and volunteers to ensure they are prepared for their shifts.
- Maintain storage areas and track supply inventory, coordinating reorders when necessary.
- Assist with the setup and teardown of museum events and programs.
- Document observations from STEM events and participate in regular reflection meetings to discuss programming.
- Support the broader Museum Engagement team with general programming as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student, with preference for majors in Communications, Human Resources, or Psychology.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule.
- Strong organizational skills to manage inventory and event logistics.
- Interest or experience in planning and facilitating educational programs.
- Ability to provide high-quality customer service and engage with diverse museum guests.
- Capability to take detailed qualitative and quantitative observations for program documentation.

- Compensation: This is a paid position at $10 per hour.
