About the role#
As an Industrial Design Intern at Mercury Marine, you will support the design team through both conceptual and production-focused tasks. You will work on marine-specific products, including propulsion systems, controls, and associated components. This role involves collaborating with engineering and product integration teams to help transform design visions into reality.
What you'll do#
- Create 2D and 3D concepts to convey design intent.
- Develop conceptual designs and learn production processes for physical hardware and graphics projects.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other designers and engineering staff.
- Create Color, Materials, and Finishes (CMF) concepts and proposals.
- Participate in weekly design critiques on active projects.
- Perform rapid visualization using physical and digital tools.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design.
- Minimum second semester sophomore status with at least 48 completed credits.
- Strong skills in sketching, form development, surface interest, and proportions.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Experience with product concepting, including sketching, rendering, and model building.

- Location: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May through August).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
