About the role#
Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is hiring Undergraduate Research Student Assistants to support the NSF CREST Grant. You will join an interdisciplinary team under the supervision of Dr. Fatemeh Jamshidi. This role focuses on the development of intelligent human-system integration using augmented and virtual reality. You will work 10 to 20 hours per week during academic semesters and the summer.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop AR/VR training scenarios for the IME Smart Manufacturing Lab.
- Implement and test interactive simulations using Unity and C#.
- Conduct applied research, including literature reviews, data collection, and documentation.
- Support the integration of AR/XR systems with Digital Twin environments.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of VR/XR-enhanced training systems through user studies and analysis.
- Collaborate with researchers across multiple subprojects within the CREST Center.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student at Cal Poly Pomona in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Proficiency in Unity and C# programming.
- A strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
- Familiarity with 3D environments.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
