About the role#
The Metropolitan Water District’s Water Quality Section is hiring a Co-Op intern for the Water Reuse and Process Development Team. You will support the operation and maintenance of the Pure Water Southern California demonstration plant. This is a part-time position for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Provide field and laboratory support at the demonstration plant.
- Interpret process flow diagrams and review treatment process designs.
- Document treatment processes.
- Collect and prepare samples for water quality testing.
- Perform data entry and organize datasets.
- Conduct technical report writing, editing, and literature research.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited four-year degree program in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Environmental Engineering.
- Sophomore, junior, or early senior status with about two years left before graduation.
- A minimum overall GPA of 2.5 in relevant coursework.
- A valid California Driver’s License and personal automobile liability insurance.
Location & details#
- Location: Carson, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Approximately 8 to 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Work should be scheduled in blocks of at least four hours. Summer hours may extend up to 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
