About the role#
The San Francisco Chronicle is hiring an Audience Intern for a 12-week program during the summer of 2027. You will work alongside digital producers and audience editors to learn how we engage readers across our website, app, and social media platforms. This is a paid, full-time position that offers direct mentorship from our staff.
What you'll do#
- Embed with cross-functional teams to produce content for our website and app.
- Manage social media channels and contribute to newsletters and multimedia projects.
- Draft social media posts and create digital-first content.
- Write articles and produce digital video or photography.
- Receive training and guidance from editors and colleagues across different departments.
What you'll need#
- Interest in audience engagement, social media strategy, and digital-first content.
- Ability to work in an environment where content ranges from breaking news to sports and food guides.
- Experience with video and photo editing is preferred.
- Strong experience with college publications or previous internships is preferred.
- Majors in Communications, Journalism, or Media Studies.
Location & details#
- This role is based in San Francisco, California.
- The work modality is hybrid.
- This position is full-time, typically Monday through Friday, though weekend, evening, and holiday work may be required based on news coverage needs.
