About the role#
Clark Dietz, Inc. is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This paid, full-time position is based on-site in Lexington, Kentucky. You will work within a team to support municipal infrastructure and roadway projects. The role includes hands-on field experience, mentorship, and opportunities to participate in group activities to learn about different engineering career paths.
What you'll do#
- Work as part of a team in the field on municipal infrastructure and roadway projects.
- Assist with design and plan development.
- Support drainage and roadside grading tasks.
- Assist with 3D surface modeling.
- Help with layouts on project sites.
What you'll need#
- You must be a student with a declared major in Civil Engineering.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, research specifications, and navigate codes.
- Skills to perform basic calculations, compute quantities, verify measurements, and analyze data.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Good communication and listening skills, including the ability to ask insightful questions.
- Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Previous experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley ORD, or MicroStation is desired.
- A valid driver’s license and a vehicle for commuting to project sites.
- A willingness to perform a variety of tasks.

- Location: Lexington, KY.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Pay: $20 to $26 per hour, depending on experience and academic year.
