About the role#
Clark Dietz is looking for a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Indianapolis, Indiana. You will join a team working on municipal infrastructure and roadway projects, gaining practical experience through hands-on design and construction tasks.
What you'll do#
- Work as part of a team in the field on municipal infrastructure and roadway projects.
- Assist with the design and construction of mechanical and electrical building systems.
- Support work on low and medium voltage power distribution, lighting, HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing.
- Participate in group activities to learn about the engineering profession and career paths.
What you'll need#
- Declared major in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural engineering.
- Interest in building systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and documents.
- Ability to research specifications and codes.
- Ability to perform basic calculations to compute quantities, verify measurements, and organize data.
- Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to perform a variety of tasks.
- Good communication and listening skills, including the ability to ask insightful questions.
- Proficiency with REVIT and MS Office (Excel and Word).
- Previous experience using CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley ORD, MicroStation) is desired.
- Valid driver’s license and a vehicle for commuting to project sites.

- Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $20 to $26 per hour, based on experience and academic year.
