About the role#
As a Water Resource Engineering Intern, you will work with a team on various field and office projects. This internship provides hands-on experience with civil engineering tasks while offering opportunities to participate in group activities to learn about the profession and career paths. You will be assigned to an Intern Mentor Pod led by an experienced professional.
What you'll do#
- Assist with stream improvement projects and hydrologic modeling.
- Support floodplain enhancement design.
- Perform preliminary quantity calculations and cost estimating.
- Help with construction inspection projects for state and municipal clients.
- Participate in group learning and social activities throughout the summer.
What you'll need#
- Declared major in Civil Engineering with an interest in Civil Environmental engineering.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, documents, specifications, and codes.
- Proficiency in performing basic calculations, verifying measurements, and organizing data.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly, listen well, and ask insightful questions.
- Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Previous experience with CAD software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley ORD, or MicroStation is desired.
- Valid driver license and a vehicle for commuting to project sites.

- Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full-time.
- Pay: $20 to $26 per hour, based on experience and academic year.
