    About the role#

    Corning is seeking a Controls Engineering Intern to support the Digital Factory Lab in Painted Post, New York. This lab serves as an automation training and demonstration platform. You will work with experienced engineers to build, program, and test systems that integrate robotics, machine vision, and industrial networking. This is a full-time, paid summer 2027 internship.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the assembly, maintenance, and organization of the Digital Factory Lab.
    • Assist with the mechanical integration of conveyors, sensors, robotics, vision systems, and automation hardware.
    • Participate in programming and troubleshooting programmable controllers, robotic systems, operator interfaces, and industrial networks.
    • Design and fabricate custom components, fixtures, and sensor-mounting solutions using CAD.
    • Document engineering activities, test results, and system configurations.
    • Present project accomplishments and technical learnings at the conclusion of the internship.

    What you'll need#

    • Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
    • Basic electrical and mechanical aptitude.
    • Basic programming experience in any language.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a laboratory setting.
